Sometimes a spoonful of elderberry syrup on a cold winter morning isn’t exactly how you want to wake up. We get it. So we’ve put together some alternatively delicious ways to incorporate this immune-boosting tincture into your daily diet. Try them out and let us know your favorite! 

 

  • POPSICLES: Makes 4 popsicles 

With a mixer, whip together 3 cups of orange juice, 1 cup of unflavored greek yogurt, and 3 tbs of elderberry syrup. Pour into popsicle molds and let sit overnight in the freezer. 

 

  • SALAD DRESSING: Makes dressing for 3-4 side salads 

Combine 1/2 cup olive oil, 2 tbs elderberry syrup, 3 tbs balsamic vinegar, 1 tbs salt and pepper, 1 tbs honey, 1 tbs minced garlic, and 1 tbs dried Italian seasoning. Once combined, enjoy over a fruit, nut and cheese salad.

 

  • GINGER MINT TEA: Makes 3 cups of tea

Roughly chop one large ginger root and place in medium pot with 4 cups of water. Add 3 tbs honey and bring to a boil on low and let simmer for 10 minutes. Add ½ cup of fresh mint and simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat, add 2 tbs of elderberry syrup and pour into separate mugs to enjoy

 

  • ELDERBERRY LEMONADE: Makes ½ gallon 

In a large container, mix 4 cups of water, ½ cup of sugar, 4 tbs of elderberry syrup, and ½ cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Make sure sugar is completely dissolved. Put in the fridge and wait 2-3 hours until lemonade is completely cooled. 

 

  • HERBED BUTTER: Makes appetizer dip for 3-4 people 

Remove a stick of butter from the fridge and let sit for 30 minutes until softened. In a mixer, add butter, 1 tbs orange zest, 1 tbs fresh thyme and 1 tbs fresh rosemary. Mix on medium until butter is thoroughly whipped, place on a wooden board and drizzle 1 tbs of elderberry syrup. Enjoy with crackers, pita, pretzels, or on a muffin! 

 

  • BAKED AUTUMN APPLES DESSERT: Makes dessert for 3-4 people 

Thinly slice 5-6 apples and place in a bowl. Melt ½ cup of butter and add to the apple bowl along with 3 tbs of cinnamon and 3 tbs of sugar. Mix the apple mixture with a spoon then lay pour it into a 9×13 baking dish. Place in the oven and bake at 375 for 30 minutes, stirring once at 15 minutes. Once removed, drizzle 2 tbs of elderberry syrup and eat warm with ice cream on top.
